Janaagraha PILS: Making our footpaths pedestrian friendly

Through the WII study, we noticed that the ad-hoc placement of transformers on the footpath was hindering mobility as well as causing accidents. In order to improve our footpaths and make them pedestrian friendly, a PIL was filed on December 20, 2010 with the Karnataka High Court to relocate the existing transformers. The case was heard on March 14th, 2011, following which an order was passed on April 5th asking BESCOM to provide alternative solutions for the same. We are currently discussing these alternative solutions with BESCOM to make Bangalore City more pedestrian friendly. You can see some of our press coverage here.
