Between 2005-08, at the behest of the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, the two co-founders of Janaagraha were appointed as Advisors to the State on urban reforms. A state-wide urban reform agenda in Rajasthan called SUARAJ (State Urban Agenda for Rajasthan) was implemented. Designed as an innovative public-policy intervention, SUARAJ initiated Fast Track Projects, and Reform Track Programmes. Under both tracks multiple projects were developed. The reform track projects have built deep domain knowledge and strengthened the understanding of working with state government. For her work on SUARAJ, Swati Ramanathan was awarded the Rajasthan Rajyotsava Puraskar, the highest civilian award in the state. You can find out more about the SUARAJ and Master Planning here
