We’re proud to share that the Swacch Delhi App, developed by Janaagraha has been launched by the government. Several government initiatives such as the Smart Cities Mission and the Mumbai Development Plan 2014-2034 have invited public suggestions and comments. In a first, Rajasthan includes provisions for the homeless in its draft Urban Development Policy

Urban Housing through rentals
A draft of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation’s national policy on urban rental housing published this October has invited public suggestions and comments. The policy suggests a host of fiscal initiatives and public private partnerships for promoting rental housing as a means to achieve the “Housing for All by 2022” mission

Citizen Participation in Stage II of the Smart Cities Mission
As part of the Ministry of Urban Development’s Smart Cities Challenge, citizen polls are being held on the central government website, for determining the key planning objectives of various smart cities. Along with online voting, various nominated smart cities are also carrying out on-the-ground initiatives for incorporating public opinion in the final smart city proposal to be submitted in Stage II of the competition.

Rajasthan invites suggestions on Urban Development Policy
The Rajasthan government has invited public suggestions and comments on its recently published Urban Development Policy up to January 31, 2016. The draft policy addresses the challenges of rapid urbanization, and frames a vision for urban development. It covers the sectors of transport, water supply, waste water, urban poverty, environment etc. The draft is of particular importance as Rajasthan is the first state to come up with a policy provision for the homeless.

Citizen input for Mumbai DP 2014-34’s land designation survey

The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai has invited citizens’ observations on the land designation survey of the proposed Mumbai Development Plan (DP) 2014-34. The new development plan was first announced in February 2015, but was withdrawn in April following heavy criticism from various citizen groups and residents across the city on the perceived errors in the DP’s reservations. Citizens’ observations on the survey will now be integrated in the revised DP which is expected to be announced in February 2016.

Swacch Delhi App by Janaagraha
The Swacch Delhi campaign, by the Delhi government, has released an app for quick action on garbage issues in the city. Citizens can inform the civic authority about garbage that is not cleared by uploading a picture of the place through the app. The app, developed by Janaagraha’s online team, has had about 2000 downloads within two days of its release.
