Keeping my city safe
It was with a comforting sense of gratitude that I read Janaagraha's mailer 'You can help keep Bangalore safe' just after our city was terrorized. It made me feel less helpless and overwhelmed. It also made me wonder at how little we really know about how much we can do; sometimes, the line seems to blur between volunteering and duty - I wonder if being indifferent/uninvolved is really an option anymore.
All it takes is a thought like yours...
Aparna, it's refreshing to read your thoughts - yes being indifferent/uninvolved is really not an option anymore. The happenings in the world around us, in our neighbourhoods, just can't leave us unaffected. Somehow i feel with all the conveniences thanks to advances in technology, we want everything home delivered, in most digestible bytes! But do we really absorb the info? Do we seek it actively? Does it stir us into doing something? Or are we contented to stay in the helpless, overwhelmed mode? You went beyond, and that's inspiring!
