HUMAN RESOURCES

The HR department at Janaagraha is mandated to supply the organisation's various programmes with the staff and volunteers necessary for them to discharge their responsibilities. Because of this, the majority of its work involves recruitment, although the department is also responsible for measuring and documenting employee and volunteer satisfaction.

Key Performance Indicators

In 2012-13 the HR Department is tasked with filling volunteer and open positions within agreed upon timelines, as well as hosting volunteer outreach activities. It also has responsibility for providing basic training to new staff in adherence to a training plan. To ensure the department meets these responsibilities effectively, KPIs have been set for average on-boarding satisfaction feedback scores from employees and volunteers. The HR department also assumes responsibility for on-boarding volunteers to our online platform, and collecting satisfaction scores from volunteers and programme coordinators on their respective association.

Balanced Scorecard

Q1 Results

Percentage of volunteer requirements fulfilled within agreed upon

The programme did not meet its target of recruiting volunteers within agreed upon timetables (68%). Programme requirements for the roles of volunteers are dynamic, which means recruiting able personnel is a significant challenge.

Percentage of open positions filled within agreed timeline

The programme achieved its KPIs with respect to filling open positions within agreed timelines (103%).

Average on-boarding satisfaction feedback score (scale of 10)

The programme was unable to collect the data used to generate an on-boarding satisfaction feedback score. The process was not started as the BSC for HR was not finalized until early June. Therefore, this will be pursued in the upcoming quarters.

Agenda for Q2

In Q2, the HR Department will begin conducting volunteer outreach activities and will ensure that new recruits are provided with first month feedback. It will also collect average satisfaction scores from volunteers and coordinators and adhere to its own agreed upon training plan for new recruits. Importantly, the program will renew its effort to on-board volunteers to its on-line platform (essentially a volunteer alumni forum).
